Red Hallway

The hallway connects to the dining room. Different doors sprout out in different directions. Some are just closets, but others lead to more interesting locations. There's a bend near the end of the hall, leading to the dorms.

Dax: They and Rue were walking down the hallway, quiet as ever. Their eyes were peeled on their surroundings, looking for any sort of clues or evidence hidden around...but so far, they had found nothing. Not a single thing was out of place in any area they had been to.

...Dax let out a low rumbling noise from their throat.

Rue: "Hm?" Rue was alerted. "Is something wrong?"

Dax: "...I don't know," they replied. "Those labels...wrong and right, or, whatever, are rather foreign to me anyways."

Rue: "Understood."

Quietly, they continued to walk...until someone came into view.

Arsenic: It was Arsenic, quietly walking down the other way...towards the dorms. She still held an anguished look on her face, but stopped up seeing the two of them.

"Did..did you two figure anything out!?"

Dax: "No. We haven't found anything."

Rue: "Some other people have, but we've turned out empty handed. This case doesn't seem to have a lot of clues surrounding it."

He blinks. "...If you do not mind, is there anything you may know that we don't?"

Arsenic: ...She growls.

"You both seem awfully calm for someone who just lost that tom you always hung out with...and I'm tired already. Leave me alone."

Dax: They were quiet as they watched the scene unfold...another rumble escaping their body. They gently clenched their own fist.

Arsenic: She started to walk off...that is, until Rue grabbed her from the scruff of her neck. He held her in place with his metallic arm as she yelped, trying and failing to tug away.

Rue: "Now is not the time for emotional brooding. If you know something, anything, tell us. Then you may rest before the trial."

Arsenic: Eventually, she gave up flailing around uselessly. With a moan of annoyance, she spoke.

"Nothing I can say will be of the most help, but the only thing I know that I haven't said is that someone used the vents to get the flamethrower. It's only been missing for around a day, almost two at this rate. If I could help more, I would. Now let. Me. Go."

Rue: ...

He released his grip, and watched as Arsenic trudged off. His interest quickly changed to Dax...who...

"...Are you crying, Dax?"

Dax: "...I don't know. Again." They sniffled. Little droplets were slowly dripping from their curvy, indigo pupils. "I can't stop myself from doing this. But...I remember something, dear."

Rue: Unsure of how to help as his eyes shifted from right to left, they answered. "...What did you remember?"

Dax: "This morning...I visited the cathedral. It was completely dry. Nothing was amiss then."

He spoke normally, minus some snorting as his throat filled with mucus, yet those tears just kept falling. "How did it become so...so wet...in such little time? How can you paint a room so big so fast?"

Rue: "..I don't know myself. I've never painted a room in a dubious liquid before...but knowing that should be useful."

...With a hesistant hand, he patted Dax's shoulder.

"I don't know what your problem is, but perhaps we can take a moment to stop your tears before searching more. They're rather annoying.

Dax: "...Agreed. Please. We can go to my dorm...mrrp."

The two of them walked away, staying close, silence once again filling the hall.
